Sermon Description
The first chapter of the Bible is not only one of the most famous and important pieces of literature, it features what is foundational to a full life. In it we discover what is central to life, how to deal with darkness in our life, and how to build sustainable rhythms that promote our well-being.
Main Passage(s)
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.
By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.
