Christianity introduces itself to the world through a book written by someone who was, in many ways, an outsider. Matthew, the author of the first book in the New Testament, was a tax collector—hated by many, including the religious elites of his time. Yet it’s his perspective that’s featured. This year, our Advent messages will explore Matthew’s unique take on the Christmas story. While he doesn’t shy away from sharing that Jesus entered the world in surprising and even scandalous ways, Matthew focuses on presenting Jesus as the long-awaited Messiah, with a mission unlike any other.

Advent Devotional
This devotional will walk you and your families through four traditional advent hymns, paired with scripture, as a way of preparing all of our hearts for the astounding beauty of Christmas. We encourage you to listen to each week’s hymns during or after you reflect on the passage and the suggested responses. Our prayer is that they will help you meet this beautiful and complex season with the peace of advent, the pax adventus.

On December 14, we will gather to give the families gifts. RESERVE YOUR SPOT HERE. You will also need to download a Volunteer Application. All applications must be received by November 29, as a background check is required.

The Agape Christmas store provides an opportunity for neighbors to purchase gifts for their children at a reduced price. This empowers people in the community to choose the gifts for their family, and for each child to wake up to a gift on Christmas day. YOU can be a part of their empowerment journey! Please consider providing gifts for parents to shop at the Christmas store. Simply purchase items your family members would enjoy, or shop from the Amazon gift list.
