Intersection: Where Life and Faith Meet

by Leo Schuster | Lead Pastor

Faith is not just a set of beliefs to adopt or a moral code to follow. It is designed to intersect with every area of our life. Jesus imagined faith as an all-encompassing life characterized by love: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. . . and love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:37, 39).

Each Sunday in our new series–Intersection: Where Life and Faith Meet–we’ll consider a different point of intersection between faith and life: from dealing with pain and lingering loneliness, to helping us understand our emotions and discover enduring purpose. We’ll reflect upon how love for God and our neighbor could impact our work and the way we think about the sorrows and injustices around us. While imagining how faith might correspond to the ever-changing world of contemporary culture, we’ll also take seriously concerns people often have with the Christian faith, such as how it relates to modern science and can over-relate to politics. And we’ll discuss questions many have about the Bible, the church, and the often hypocritical ways of those who identify as Christian.

As we grow in loving God and one another in all of life we’ll want to lean against a compartmentalized approach to Christian discipleship. This will encourage us to embrace an integrated, holistic vision for following Jesus, that is at every point utterly dependent upon his grace.

I am very excited about this extended series. It will be important for all of us who want to grow in our faith as well as an interesting series for those who don’t go to church, either because of difficult church-related experiences or because it has never been a part of their life. Please take a moment to invite someone you know.
