Vespers, October 18

Vespers, October 18

by City Church

While City Church will continue to host online services, on October 18 we will hold Vespers: a time in the evening for us to be together for song, communion, and prayer. “Vesper” means “evening” in Latin, and these evening services have been held in many Christian traditions for centuries. Please consider if it is best for you to attend by reviewing the CDC high-risk categories. Do not attend if you exhibit any COVID-19 symptoms. Every person and every family is impacted differently from this pandemic, so if it’s not best for you to attend this in-person gathering, we continue to look forward to seeing you online at 10:30 a. m. on Sunday mornings.

While our touch-less gathering may look a little different than our gatherings before COVID, the mission of City Church has not changed. City Church still seeks to renew Houston by bringing beauty to broken places by loving God, loving others, and loving the city. In accordance with our mission and for the safety of all who attend, we will adhere to guidelines released by state and local authorities. As a people who seek the good of our neighbor, we will also joyfully adhere to the following guidelines:

  • You must register to attend. Please arrive early (4:45) so we can get you checked in and seated safely.
  • We will email you the morning of the event as a reminder to self-verify that you do not have COVID-19 symptoms
  • Masks are mandatory while inside the building for those ages four and up. If you do not have a mask, we have some available at the entrance.
  • We will have no-touch entry and nothing will be passed out. We will send you the order of service via email and make it available on our website.
  • Sanitizing stations will be available at the entrance and throughout the building. In compliance with CDC recommendations, all facilities will be cleaned with EPA-approved disinfectant spray or wipes on all commonly touched surfaces (bathrooms, handles, door knobs, pews, etc.).
  • We will practice social distancing. We also encourage no-touch greetings like waves and smiling with your eyes. There will only be one person allowed in the restroom at a time.
  • No food or drink.
  • We will not provide childcare.

Please help us adhere to these guidelines. Our ability to continue to gather is dependent on everyone doing their part. If you decide to cancel your registration, please email claire@citychurch.org. We long to be all together again. May we find hope in knowing God is at work among us even in, especially in, these unique circumstances.
