This fall, City Church is launching a new initiative conceived to equip and train a new generation of leaders for the city of Houston and for our community at City Church. The Space City Fellows Program (SCFP) is a year-long, intensive seminar open to a small cohort of servant-leaders interested in articulating a deeper understanding of the practical and theological mission of the church. Through discussion, a robust curriculum, and a slate of visiting speakers, this fellowship aims to establish a groundwork for understanding the Christian’s ability to relevantly answer many of contemporary culture’s biggest questions, covering large-scale topics such as God, man, redemption, faith, work, and the arts, to name only a few. The application period will open on Sunday, September 13th and close on Sunday, September 27th, with the program beginning in early October. Sign up here.
All are welcome to apply, although successful applicants will be those who can commit to the pace and expectations of the program: 2-3 meetings per month with a curriculum consisting of 1-2 books plus articles per month. City Church members will be granted special consideration. Successful applicants will also demonstrate a desire to be in constructive dialogue with others, approaching the program as neither a forum for debating cultural issues nor a chance to divorce theological questions from their practical applications in service and outreach.
This year will serve as a beta test for the program’s long-term model, so the first year’s cohort will be asked to serve the additional role—alongside program administrators Ayo Omopariola and Clint Wilson—of helping shape the ethos and focal points of the fellowship going forward. Thank you for your interest, and if you have any additional questions, please send them to Clint Wilson.
