“It takes a village to raise a child.” We’ve all heard it said before, and it’s true of many things in life. Thankfully, God didn’t leave us on our own, as He has promised to be with us (“Behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:20). And, in His goodness, He has given us each other to navigate through this journey of life.
Well, it takes a village to launch a church! Who plants a church with 100 volunteers ready to go on the first Sunday? God does! So many of you have already given of yourselves by committing to serve on a ministry team – thank you! What a blessing it is to still have needs for volunteers. It is a confirmation of all God is doing through City Church.
City Church was born out of prayer and a vision to bring beauty to the broken places of Houston. The best way we can bring beauty into brokenness is by serving others with one another.
We don’t give of ourselves or serve to gain a reward, but in my life, I’ve found God to be so sweet in the way He has blessed me when I serve. It may be a blessing of multiplied time, an encouraging word or opening my eyes to see something new about God’s character.
In serving, we give something up – time, recreation or resources, just as Jesus did when He came to this earth. But, what we gain in return is recharging, life changing and deep down soul quenching.
City Church strives to be a place of purpose and a place for meaningful relationships to grow. Serving is a great way to really get to know people – through time spent together, vulnerability with others and sharing life together. The beauty of being plugged into a ministry team is that you will connect with others quickly.

There is a place for everyone. Pray about where you might best serve our city. We would love for you to be part of this journey with us!
