City Kids: A look ahead

We are thrilled to announce these upcoming events for City Kids families as we move toward the summer months. Take note of the details below, and make plans to join us and invite other families to be a part of these gatherings.

Parents Night Out

April 21 | 6-9 PM | Big Brothers Big Sisters | 1003 Washington Ave

The Children's Ministry is hosting our first ever Parents Night Out on Saturday, April 21st from 6-9 PM at the new Big Brothers Big Sisters facility (1003 Washington Ave Houston). Children (infant-5th) are invited to spend the evening playing games, making crafts and watching a movie with their City Church friends.

Registration is now open, and you can sign up your kids here. We hope this will be an opportunity for you to enjoy a night out or meet up with other City Church parents and friends! City Youth students and adult leaders will chaperone the night, pizza will be provided, and you are more than welcome to pick up children before 9 PM if needed.


City Kids Service Project with WorkFaith Connection

April 22 | 10:30 AM | House of Blues - Bronze Peacock

Join us on Sunday, April 22nd for a service project during children's worship in City Kids. Children (K4-5th) will spend the morning making treat bags for graduates and volunteers of WorkFaith Connection, and will have the opportunity to learn more about this  ministry partner.


Worship + Bowl City Kids Event

May 13 | 10:30 AM | Lucky Strike

Children (K4-5th) will have a chance to go bowling, as well as worship and grow together through large and small group times. This will be a fun-filled morning to kick off the summer and invite friends to join. Children can be dropped off and picked up in the Bronze Peacock.


City Church Picnic

May 20th | 4-6 PM | Colonial Park | 4130 Byron Street

Join us to celebrate the beginning of the summer with your church family at Colonial park for a Sunday afternoon picnic. Our annual City Church Picnic will include food, lawn games and time to connect. It is also a great event to invite friends, co-workers and neighbors to attend.

Park Play Dates are opportunities throughout the summer to find community with other parents. We hope you will join us for a chance to meet and catch up with other parents while children play together.

June 24th | K4 - 1st families

July 15th | 2nd-5th families

Join us before the service from 9:45-10:15 AM in the Children’s Area for breakfast tacos, coffee and connecting with other families.


Musical Theater Camp

July 16-20 | 9 AM - 12 PM | Midtown Arts Theater Center Houston | 3400 Main Street

Children, rising kindergarten through 6th grade, will enjoy a fun-filled week of drama, music, art and Bible lessons. At the end of the week, the children will perform the musical A Not So Terrible Parable, which tells the story of the Good Samaritan as a mysterious and over-the-top “whodunnit.” Email if you are interested in volunteering. Jennifer Welch is a City Youth coordinator. She graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in youth development and then worked on staff for Young Life in Jasper, Georgia. Jennifer most recently served as the children's coordinator at City Church for three years as she pursed her degree in counseling. Jennifer is now working as a licensed professional counselor intern.
