Advent Week 2

Have you ever had really big news—something you were so excited to tell someone about? Maybe you were pumped about a grade you got on a test. Maybe you couldn’t wait to share with everyone at school about a new pet. It happens to all of us. When we have something exciting, we can’t help but tell other people.

The people we are learning about today are called the shepherds. And they had some exciting news to share. They were told, “Your waiting is over! Jesus, you rescuer, is here!” They hurried as fast as they could to Bethlehem to see for themselves. They had to see baby Jesus. After they saw him, do you know what they did? They had to go tell everyone that their savior was here. Who can you tell about Jesus today? In this season of life, when contact with people is less than it ever has been, I have found that showing people Jesus sometimes just means showing up in simple ways. Reach out to a friend you haven’t talked to in awhile, make eye contact with the person bagging your groceries, bring the joy of Jesus to your own kitchen table.

So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child”
