A Way to Help Afghan Immigrants

A Way to Help Afghan Immigrants

City Church,

I’m an immigration attorney at YMCA International Services and am excited to share with you an opportunity to serve Afghan immigrants that are now arriving to the Houston area. Our staff are assisting Afghan immigrants who have risked their lives protecting and assisting U.S. troops and actively receiving eligible Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) cases for those that can secure travel out of Afghanistan. YMCA International anticipates serving almost 300 Afghan SIVs in Houston by the end of September and is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment and meeting their critical needs. Below are some ways that you can come alongside us in our efforts.

Thank you!

Ways to help YMCA International:

  • Purchase an item from our Amazon Wishlist HERE. Items purchased will go directly to Afghan SIV families arriving in Houston.
  • Drop off new household items at our office located at 6300 Westpark Drive, Suite 600, Houston TX 77057. Most needed items include: gift cards – Walmart and Amazon; beds – mattress and bed frame, double and twin as well as bunk bed sets; tea kettle; TV – with Roku; cups; pressure cookers; microwave; blankets; children’s clothing – ideally gift cards to clothing stores; video game consoles for children Our number one need right now is for new mattresses. We unfortunately cannot take gently used mattresses at this time.
  • Share this urgent need with your friends, family, and on your social media. Those interested in assisting can text YMCAHouston to 24365 for more information.
