Leo Schuster is the Lead Pastor of City Church. As an ordained pastor for twenty-nine years, Leo’s ministry has reached from Texas to New York City. He started and led two college ministries in Dallas, founded and pastored Christ the King Presbyterian Church in Houston, and most recently served as the Lead Pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian Church’s East Side Congregation in New York City where he was directly mentored by Tim Keller. Leo and his wife, Ellen, have three adult daughters: Anna, Margaret, and Mary Caroline. They also have one grandson, James.
Valerie Tompson is the Executive Director at City Church where she oversees all ministry areas, as well as the operations and finances of the church. She grew up in Houston, attended Washington and Lee University in Virginia, and recently completed an MBA at Duke University. She has worked in church finance and administration for fourteen years, previously holding a similar role at Christ the King Presbyterian Church. Her husband, Matt, is a physician, and they have three children: Mary Shannon, Rachel, and Will.
Elise Mueller is the Executive Assistant at City Church where she assists Leo and Valerie and has touchpoints with all areas of ministry. Elise grew up outside of Chicago and attended Texas Christian University where she majored in speech communication. She is married to Jonathan, and they have four children: James, Luke, Jacob, and Kate.
Worship Arts Manager
Joy Hanna is the Worship Arts Manager at City Church and leads the worship services each week. Joy felt called into a music ministry at the early age of eleven when she started writing songs. She then began leading worship for her church in Virginia, recording her original songs, and touring. Joy graduated from Liberty University and served on staff as a worship leader at McLean Bible Church for two years before she and her husband, Andrew, moved to Houston. City Youth Coordinator
Margaret Melton grew up in Brenham and moved to Houston after studying Business Marketing at Ole Miss. Margaret spent her college summers on staff at a Young Life camp and Camp Ozark. She is passionate about spending quality time with youth in their pivotal years of life. Over the last nine years, Margaret has held different corporate roles in marketing and supply chain. Margaret is married to Greg and they live in Montrose.
Media | Communications Manager
Kris Noland is the Media and Communications Manager at City Church where he manages all production, print and digital communications. Kris is a native Houstonian and spent most of his twenties playing in various bands around town. He also worked with Josh Moore as Assistant Recording Engineer at Castle Bravo Studios. He plays the piano/synthesizer and guitar.
Ayo Omopariola is the Pastoral Resident at City Church where he preaches, supports community development, and provides pastoral care. He was born in Nigeria and grew up in Wichita, Kansas and Fort Worth, Texas. He did his undergraduate and graduate work at the University of Houston and seminary work at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has spent a decade serving in various ministry roles in both college and local church ministries. Ayo and his wife, Amaechi, have two sons: Ezra and Simeon.
Director of City Kids
Chelsey Omoregie is the Director of City Kids where she oversees children’s programming for infants-5th grade. She also sings with Civic Club in City Church services. She is a proud Houstonian who grew up in the southwest Houston area. Her husband, Bryant, is a Software Engineer and they have one daughter, Caydence. After attending University of North Texas and attaining her Bachelor’s in Interdisciplinary Studies with a specialization in ESL, she transitioned into classroom teaching, curriculum writing, and leading worship. Chelsey is passionate about worship and using her teaching experience to reach children and teach them about Jesus Christ.
City Youth Coordinator
Carter was born and raised in Katy and moved back to Houston after studying Petroleum Engineering at LSU. Carter led a Bible study on campus for two years and has served as a volunteer leader for Young Life in the Katy area. Carter loves youth ministry because it challenged his faith when he was in high school and came to know Jesus through it. Currently, Carter works as an engineer for a natural gas pipeline company and will be working with youth in a part-time capacity.
Anna Russell Thornton
Volunteer Coordinator | Pastoral Intern
Anna Russell Thornton is the Volunteer Coordinator and Pastoral Intern at City Church where she manages volunteers for Sunday morning and participates in the order of worship. Anna Russell grew up in Nashville, TN and attended Washington and Lee University in Virginia before making her way to Houston. Anna Russell now teaches ninth grade English at YES Prep Southeast Secondary and works at Camp DeSoto in Mentone, AL in the summers. She is currently pursuing a Master’s in English at Middlebury Bread Loaf School of English.
Director of Community Formation
Clint Wilson is the Director of Community Formation at City Church where he oversees our small group ministry. Clint moved to Houston via West Virginia, Wake Forest University, Edinburgh, and Philadelphia. Having recently completed his PhD in English at Rice University, he is particularly interested in how literature and the arts shape questions of faith, and vice versa. Clint and his wife Natalie, a clinical social worker, live in Montrose with their dog, Huckleberry Finn.
